Children’s Advocacy Center Ribbon Cutting November 4, 2020
MILFORD, PA – Pike County District Attorney Raymond Tonkin and the Pike County Commissioners cordially invite you to a grand opening ribbon cutting for the new Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC).
Wednesday, November 4, at 2:00 p.m.
103 West High Street
• Announcement of the official CAC name and logo
• Ribbon Cutting
The Commissioners made the historic building in the heart of Milford available for development into the CAC. Over the last several months, the Special Victim’s Unit of the District Attorney’s Office has worked alongside the Pike County Maintenance Department to renovate, update and furnish the former Magisterial District Judge's office into a safe, child-focused environment to serve victims of child abuse.
Children who have been abused, neglected or witnessed crime will come to the Children’s Advocacy Center to be interviewed by trained forensic interviewers about what they have endured. Professionals from multiple disciplines including the District Attorney’s Criminal Investigative Division, prosecution and other law enforcement, Pike County Children and Youth Services, and a Special Victim Advocate will begin their collaboration to respond to child abuse by watching the interview on screen from a separate conference room at the CAC.
The opening of a children’s advocacy center in its new, permanent location is a result of years of dedication by DA Tonkin’s office to improve the county-wide response to child abuse.
During the ribbon cutting, the CAC’s official new name will be announced. “The name and logo of the Children’s Advocacy Center will honor the tradition of local heroes who go above and beyond to serve and protect the most vulnerable in our county; a legacy the work of the CAC will strive to continue every day,” says DA Tonkin.
