Milford Lights Up For the Holidays!

Posted on December 08, 2010
The cold weather didn't stop the several hundred people from attending the Annual Festival of Lights this past Saturday in Milford. The lighting celebration of the Star on the Knob overlooking Milford and the trees in town added to the ambiance of the start of this holiday season. The Dingman Delaware Choir led by Brian Krauss performed holiday selections as everyone enjoyed hot chocolate, donuts & cookies. Emcee Philly Viscardo led the children in a countdown to light up Milford as to what marks the kick off to the holiday season. Then you could hear the crowd cheer as the Milford Fire Department gave Santa Claus a first class ride into town on a fire truck with the sirens and lights on being led by motorcycles decorated as reindeer! Santa Claus had a wonderful time listening to the children's holiday wishes and gave them all candy canes. "The children of Milford have been especially good this year!" said a jolly St. Nick. "Please be sure to leave me milk and cookies for when I came back on Christmas Eve!"

The Pike County Chamber of Commerce wishes to thank the businesses and volunteers who helped make the Annual Festival of Lights this past Saturday possible: The Pike County Community House & Art Ridley, the Pike County Public Library & Ellen Shaffner, The Milford Lions Club & Bill Harkness, the Milford Business Council & Adriane Wendell, the Milford Fire Department, Dave Helms & Dave Ruby, Voltron Electric & Ralph, Dunkin Donuts MRD of Milford & Mittal Patel, Bon Secours Community Hospital & Mary Decker, the Dingman Delaware Children's Choir led by Brian Krauss, Delaware Valley School District, The Milford Craft Show, The Harrington House, Hare Hollow, The Artisan Exchange & Mike Gruodis, Wayne Bank & MaryAlice Petzinger,Toni & Maria, Dingman Delaware Insurance Company & Philly Viscardo, Life Behind Bars Store, Linda Peter and her motorcycle reindeers, Paul Brislin, Tammy Savarese and any of the other volunteers and businesses who helped to pull this all together for everyone & made it successful. The Pike County Chamber wishes everyone a wonderful holiday season and all of the best for a happy, healthy & prosperous New Year!
