The Street Scape Committee of the Milford Garden Club has spent the past four months researching for a replacement of our current urn/planters along Harford and Broad Street. We have finally decided on a “self-watering” urn from Earth Planters, but couldn’t come to consensus about style. Through a generous matching grant from the Greater Pike Foundation’s Richard Snyder Award and a donation from the Milford Enhancement Committee, we were able to purchase some urns to see how well they perform. We chose the intersection of Harford and Broad for our first planting. Tell us what you think! email@example.com.
MEMORIAL CEREMONY AT REMEMBRANCE PLACE – September 11, 2018
The Milford Garden Club maintains Remembrance Place, a Borough park located behind Stroyan’s Funeral Home. In 2010, they established a Memorial Brick Wall as a lasting tribute to all past members. The plantings at the rear of RP were funded by donations to the club from family and friends of Joanna MacGaughey at the time of her passing. Since then, the Milford Garden Club has annually honored members who have passed away.
This year the Club had a moment of silence for all the victims and survivors of the 9/11 tragedy as well as remembering members who passed away this year: Mikki Lonsky and Joan Najarian. In addition to the members who attended the ceremony, family and friends shared stories of their loved ones. Husbands Jerry Najarian and John Lonsky expressed gratitude for the gift of the Garden Club in their spouses’ lives.
Remembrance Place is a spiritual garden where our community members are encouraged to sit alone or together, read, reflect and be nurtured by its surrounding beauty.
