It's Samba Time in Milford, PA Os Clavelitos Will Perform
Os Clavelitos will perform a "Sounds of Brazil" program at the Milford Theatre, 114 E. Catharine St., on July 15th, 7:30 p.m. Tickets cost $20 at the door or $15 when purchased via www.kindredspiritsarts.org or at Holy Crepes, 224 Broad Street, Milford, PA, or Main Avenue Books, 202 Main Avenue, Hawley, PA. The 2017 Season Pass to remaining events -- it is transferable -- costs just $90. Children under 15 will be admitted to this concert free.
Os Clavelitos, an "American Samba" band based in New York City, made it to the top of the RMR World Music rankings last year with their album, Arriving. Both reviewers and the public were wowed, and it was not just the samba-loving crowd that sent Arriving to its number one spot.
The six members of Os Clavelitos came together from three different countries (Brazil, Japan, and the United States) to celebrate Brazil's musical heritage, but with a twist. Os Clavelitos creates original music that often adds English lyrics to traditional Brazilian rhythms (e.g. samba and bossa nova). The group also incorporate influences from indie, jazz, pop, folkloric, and other Latin music styles. For this concert, Os Clavelitos will be joined by two dancers in Carnival garb to create that Rio party spirit.
