Chili & Wing Cookoff Returns to The Waterfront at Silver Birches

Hawley, PA (January 6th, 2016) — One of the area’s most beloved events is coming back after a two year hiatus. The Lake Region’s Chili & Wing Cookoff is returning to Lake Wallenpaupack March 5th, 12pm-4pm at The Waterfront at Silver Birches. This year the event will be run by Silver Birches with the proceeds benefiting the Chamber of the Northern Poconos. Bud Light will be sponsoring this year’s festivities that are expected to draw hundreds people to the Lake Region. Tickets are $20 per person.

This year Silver Birches expects between 20-25 participants including local restaurants and independent chefs. New to the event will be an array of vendors and a beer tasting on the deck at The Dock on Wallenpaupack. Interested vendors please contact There will be live music in the pub during the event, which is throughout the Waterfront and Dock on Wallenpaupack restaurant, with The Gone Crazy Duo from 1pm-5pm.

As in past years there will be judges and people’s choice awards. The Wallenpaupack School Administrators will act as judges to award a First Place winner with a trophy and $100. Second and third place will also receive trophies. The People’s Choice Award, based on the votes of the attendants at the event, will award first place with $100 and a trophy. Second and third place will also receive trophies. Anyone is welcome to enter by downloading the submission forms on and emailing them to or mailing them to 205 Route 507, Hawley, PA 18428. There is no fee to enter but entrants must provide
5-8 gallons of chili. The bone in wings will be provided by Silver Birches but they must be par cooked by the entrant. Registered contestants need to pick up their three cases of wings on Thursday 3/2, 10am-2pm at The Dock on Wallenpaupack at Silver Birches.
