LORDS VALLEY, PA ― The Pike County Area Agency on Aging will host a free workshop on Hoarding Behaviors and Homeless Diversion on Monday, December 2, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at the Pike County Training Center, 135 Pike County Boulevard, in Lords Valley. Snow date is December 9.
Attendees will learn about the benefits of a cross-system collaborative approach to addressing hoarding behaviors and avoiding homelessness. “It’s important to understand how organizations and agencies can work together to help people who are having difficulties related to hoarding behaviors or homelessness,” says Robin Skibber, Executive Director of the Pike County Area Agency on Aging.
Linda Shumaker, RN-BC MA, will discuss diagnosis of hoarding as a disease for which treatment may be covered through an individual’s medical insurance or Medicare. Certified Housing Counselor Charlie Stecker will discuss budgeting, and other practices that can prevent foreclosure and homelessness.
The workshop is relevant to human services professionals but is also open to the general public. Lunch will be provided. For more information or to RSVP, call 570-775-5550.
