Community Expo & Car Show Was A Great Success!

Posted on June 1, 2011
The Women in Business Committee (WIB) of the Pike County Chamber of Commerce held the Community Expo & Car Show on May 21st at the Delaware Valley School in Milford which was a fun time and grand success.

Chaired by WIB committee volunteer Philly Viscardo of Dingman Delaware Insurance Agency, she and her committee gathered 67 vendors that were comprised of local area businesses and non-profit organizations that not only included store front businesses but people who run their businesses from home and even had a waiting list of many more to be a part of it next year. Despite the first warm and sunny day after weeks of rain and people eager to get out to do overdue yard work, they had over 285 people attend the event, which was open to the public.

Vendors displayed their items, gave demonstrations, had free give-a-ways, raffles and a 50/50. Karl Wagner of Milford won the 50/50 and he graciously donated his winnings right back to the Chamber. Door prizes were donated by several businesses including Milford Senior Care & Rehab, Ed Nikles Custom Builder, The Home Depot, Belle Reve, The Dime Bank, Woodloch Pines, Mohegan Sun, Pike County Light & Power, Walmart & Coven Haven Resorts. Lucky the Hobo and DJ Rampy of Generation 2 Disc Jockies Connection had donated their entire day for our family entertainment and Milford Senior Care & Rehab donated the kid's bouncy house. Lisa Alexander, "The Queen of Green" was our special guest and discussed how to incorporate "green living" into our daily lives. We thank you all for your generosity.

Outside we had the antique car and truck show with over 23 vehicles including a 1981 Delorean, 1969 Pontiac GTO, 1966 Chevelle and of course our top winners of Peoples' Choice going to the 1955 Oldsmobile owned by Bob and Valerie Cocchi and the Judges' Choice going to Jorge Rodriquez with is 1951 Chevy Deluxe. Thank you to Rebecca Gray who took care of the registration and keeping things running smooth outside!

We thank our event sponsors: The Milford Journal, Pike County Light & Power, Wayne Memorial Hospital, Bon Secours Community Hospital and The Pike County Dispatch. Thanks also goes to the Delaware Valley School & Staff for all of their assistance. Philly was also like to thank the staff & Directors who helped the entire day including Tammy Savarese, Lee Ann Camarero, Rebecca Gray, Paul Brislin, Simone Palmer, Kathy Hummel and especially Ken Winters!

"We were pleased to provide this great opportunity for area businesses & organizations to not only network with each other but market themselves in the community," stated Philly Viscardo, Chairperson. "Businesses learned about many new opportunities through networking, and we were pleased that our regions population & businesses are committed to buying local."

The Pike County Chamber would like businesses that seek more customers through networking to join the Pike County Chamber of Commerce.
