Pike County Chamber Abruptly Cancels March Breakfast Seminar

Posted on March 19th, 2013
The Pike County Chamber’s “Third Thursday” Breakfast Seminar scheduled for this Thursday, March 21st on the topic of “Gas Lines in Pike County” understanding the needs, pressure and the strategy of locating gas lines” has been CANCELLED by the Pike County Chamber of Commerce.

The Pike County Chamber has been receiving notifications that individuals and groups of people will be targeting our breakfast seminar to “heckle” the speaker, have a “HUGE picket line” and to “…show him (the speaker) that he is not welcome.” For the safety and protection of our guests, the speaker and the staff we feel it is in the best interest of all involved to reschedule this seminar.

The Pike County Chamber of Commerce presents these seminars to educate area businesspeople and individuals on many timely subjects. (In recent months we have covered subjects such as Obamacare and what it means for local businesses; we discussed the idea of a Public Relations Boot Camp and; How to Market Your Business on a Limited Budget.) It is not the Chamber’s intention to be used as an “occupy” site for the benefit any particular partisan belief. The Chamber strongly believes that everyone has the right to demonstrate. However, we are afraid of having our private breakfast program disrupted; even more, putting people in jeopardy. “We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused for the speaker Allen Fore, Kinder Morgan and any of the attendees who wanted to be educated to better understand about the gas lines. “The Chamber regrets that it must take this action” said Michael J. Sullivan, the Chamber’s Executive Director.

Please look for future Third Thursday seminars on a variety of topics. For more information or questions, please call Michael J. Sullivan, Executive Director at 570-296-8700 or visit www.pikechamber.com.

Pike County Chamber to hold Seminar on

Posted on March 15, 2013
The Pike County Chamber of Commerce will be continuing their Third Thursday Breakfast Seminar Series on March 21, 2013 with the topic of "Gas Lines in Pike County", understanding the needs, pressure and the strategy of locating gas lines, with Guest Speaker Mr. Allen Fore, the Director of Public Affairs for Kinder Morgan.

There has been much discussion about gas lines in Pike County. Issues relating to the National Park, residential areas and schools are just a few concerns that have been voiced by elected officials and private citizens alike.

The Tennessee Pipeline, which supplies many areas of the country with plentiful and inexpensive energy, is owned by Kinder Morgan Corporation. They are often asked to adjudicate numerous concerns of many, often conflicting, interest groups. Our seminar will look at the pressures, options and strategies that make those often difficult decisions workable.

Our featured speaker will be Allen Fore, the Director of Public Affairs for Kinder Morgan. Allen has more than 25 years of experience in law, government, public affairs and public relations at the local, state, and national levels. At Kinder Morgan, Allen manages public affairs, government relations, and community relations activities for existing company assets and major expansion projects. Before joining Kinder Morgan, Mr. Fore was a Senior Vice President at Fleishman-Hillard, an international communications company. Mr. Fore has served in the Bush Administration and was an assistant attorney general of Illinois and general counsel to the lieutenant governor of Illinois. Mr. Fore was a Ronald W. Reagan Scholar and earned his B.A. degree at Eureka College. He received a Juris Doctor degree from Valparaiso University.

Held at the Best Western Inn at Hunt's Landing in Matamoras, PA, the program begins promptly at 7:30a.m. with breakfast ready at 7:15a.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2013. It is $15.00 per person for Pike Chamber members and $20.00 per person for Non-members and you must RSVP to reserve your space by calling 570-296-8700 no later than March 20th.
