GRAND OPENING of The Paint Parade

Posted on November 3, 2014
The Pike County Chamber of Commerce recently celebrated the Grand Opening of its newest member The Paint Parade. The Paint Parade is a family owned and opearted business by the Horna Family, who just moved to the Milford area this past summer from Long Island, NY. "We are so happy that we have moved to Milford and that we have opened our art studio here. We have fallen in love with the area and the family oriented community. We hope that The Paint Parade is a place that families can visit together and make wonderful memories for years to come." The Horna Family had the idea to open the art studio because their 9 year old son Nicholas loves to be creative, is very artistic and they have always been very involved with art, especially with using acrylics. "When we went to find an art studio that offered children's art activities in the area we were surprised that we couldn't really find anything so we decided to change that and we opened The Paint Parade. Our son has even designed our logo!"

The Paint Parade offers many unique services such as open paint, plaster painting with over 200 unique pieces to choose from, plaster and canvas painting parties for all ages, BYOB Sip & Paint classes, Bridal Showers and Bachelorette Parties, Mommy/Daddy & Me sessions and Parents Night Out where parents can drop off their kids on Friday nights to enjoy some time alone. Sandy Candy is also a special feature offered every day. We have over 20 delicious flavors of Sandy Candy that you can fill into a foot long tube and it looks just like Sand Art but the best part is that it's edible.

The Paint Parade is currently Open Wednesday through Sunday. Our full schedule and list of services can be found at www.thepaintparade.com and for more information please call (570)409-4484 or toll free 844-PAINT34.

It is important to know that the choices we make today will have a big impact in our financial future and therefore our families. We teach our clients how to budget their money. We believe that all of us work hard for our money, so money should work just as hard for us. We take our mission to heart and put this philosophy into action on a daily basis. Van Gorders' Furniture recently opened a new showroom

Posted on November 3, 2014
Long time Pike County Chamber member Van Gorders' Furniture recently opened a new showroom in historic Milford, Pennsylvania to complement its locations at scenic Lake Wallenpaupack and downtown Honesdale.

The Milford showroom at 321 Water Street features a Sealy Mattress Gallery and a selection of traditional brands along with unique rustic and lodge furnishings, which are a Van Gorders' specialty.

"We're bringing a longstanding business to town, and we feel welcome already," says Proprietor Scott Van Gorder. "We've fallen in love with Milford and expect to be here a longtime."

Van Gorders' is a 4th-generation family-owned business that began in 1936 when Ralph Van Gorder founded it as the Honesdale Furniture Exchange within a sprawling four-floor historic landmark that was originally the National Hotel, and has stood at the corner of Church and Sixth Streets since 1865.

Since that time, the business has grown and changed with the times. In 1978, Don Van Gorder opened a modern second showroom on Route 6 at beautiful Lake Wallenpaupack. His son Scott joined the business and brought a distinct focus on lodge- and Adirondack-style furnishings that reflect the natural beauty of the Pocono Mountains, Catskills and Delaware River Highlands.

Scott's three sons Derek, Dylan and Max have since entered the business, and in October of this year Van Gorders' Furniture expanded into its third showroom in Milford. "We have staying power, a unique product mix, and an honest approach to business," adds Scott.

Through more than 75 years in business, however, some things have never changed such as a caring and knowledgeable professional staff with many years of valuable experience. Every team member at Van Gorders' Furniture is dedicated to providing an enjoyable and relaxing shopping experience, which means being helpful without being pushy, just like the old days.

For more information visit VanGorders.com or call the Milford showroom at 570-296-9610.
